Ballroom Brawl 2024 – Ricky South vs. Mikey Broderick

Is there a better feeling than when Mikey Broderick makes an appearance in MCW?

He’s a long-time favourite with the MCW faithful, and with chants of “Squat! Squat! Squat!” ringing through the crowd, he’s always a captivating sight. The Universal Swoldier never fails to turn the Thornbury Theatre into an out and out party!

But there’s a guy who’s made a reputation of spoiling other people’s parties.

Ricky South has been regarded as one of the most talented wrestlers to come out of the Sydney scene for a few years now, and it’s a reputation that’s hard to argue with. Now he steps back into the Thornbury Theatre for the first time in a year and a half, and his reputation has only grown.

And when you drill down into both men’s careers, there are more similarities than you might think.

Both men have held championship gold – Broderick is a former SLAM champion, while South held the Young Lions Cup Championship in the famed CHIKARA promotion.

Both men have held the PWA Heavyweight Championship; a title with such prestigious holders as Will Ospreay, Robbie Eagles, Mick Moretti, Adam Brooks, Caveman Ugg, Jessica Troy and Bronson Reed.

Both men are of similar size, standing over 6 feet tall and over 100 kilos each.

Both men have experienced success when they’ve stepped into the Thornbury Theatre before.

Broderick is a ball of energy from bell to bell, while South is calculated in his approach – both may be powerful, but both use their strength in different ways.

Ballroom Brawl 2024 takes place on Saturday 15th June at the Thornbury Theatre.
