Fight to Survive – Intercommonwealth Championship

Preview by Dan Steadman

Since he won the MCW Intercommonwealth Championship from DELTA at Ballroom Brawl, Robbie Thorpe has been riding high.

He defeated three top challengers at Vendetta, and at Worlds Collide, he partnered with his mentor Rocky Menero to win the OPW Tag Team Championship. And now he gets to defend the Intercommonwealth Championship against one of the rising stars from Western Australia – Lucas Fantasia.

Fans who follow the entirety of the Australian scene will need no introduction to Fantasia, but if you don’t, he’s a former EPW Tag Team Champion alongside a favourite of MCW – Mikey Broderick, and they defeated none other than The Untouchables to win the belts, and have even successfully defended against The Parea; plus recently he’s been plying his trade in the UK for the London based LDN Wrestling.

He’s young, he’s hungry, he’s a proven champion and he’s got international experience.

But on the other hand, you can say all the same things about Robbie Thorpe – after all, the towering Englishman has certainly proven that in recent months. And now he’s firmly part of the ICON$, he’s been given an extra level of assurance from MCW General Manager Menero.

The special guest referee for this match will be none other than the ICON$ associate Jarvis.

So, this looks to be a guaranteed win for Thorpe right?

Maybe not, as despite Menero claiming that everything is fine in the inner workings of the ICON$, it’s clear that Thorpe and Jarvis are not on the same page.

At Vendetta they almost came to blows, but Jarvis managed to follow Menero’s instructions that ‘Robbie stays Champ’ and he’s given Jarvis the same instructions for this match too. But we don’t think Jarvis is happy with the arrangement.

He’s given his all to help the ICON$, yet he sees others skip past him and get the fast track into being admitted into the group; if he’s feeling disrespected, well we can kind of see his point.

And look, all this tension and potential conflict between Thorpe and Jarvis could give Fantasia the perfect opportunity for a truly perfect debut in MCW.

This is a very intriguing match – we are looking forward to seeing it all go down at Fight to Survive!
